Official Credit Union of URI Women’s Athletics

We are proud to partner with University of Rhode Island Athletics and its athletics multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD’s Rhody Sports Properties as we serve as the first-ever “Official Credit Union of URI Women’s Athletics.”

People’s Credit Union believes in the power of each of the women’s sports teams and their connection to creating our future leaders. It is with enthusiasm that we can work together to celebrate their sport, their talent, and their athleticism.

One key component of the new integrated relationship is a People’s Credit Union contribution to URI’s “Friends of Women’s Athletics Fund” for each Rhode Island women’s team win. Additionally, the unique sponsorship designation provides People’s Credit Union with increased visibility during various women’s home athletic competitions and on official URI social platforms and GoRhody.com.

“As People’s Credit Union’s relationship with URI continues to grow, we are thrilled now to be ‘The Official Credit Union of URI’s Women’s Athletics.’ It will be our largest partnership and we look forward to the student-athletes bringing their leadership skills to new community initiatives and youth-focused activities that the Credit Union has planned,” stated Sean Daly, President and Chief Executive Officer for People’s Credit Union.

To complement its URI connection further into the community, coaches and student-athletes from URI’s women’s programs will join People’s Credit Union in youth-driven initiatives each year. The initiatives will be centered on the importance of teamwork, discipline, and other vital character traits in sports and life.

Community Through Partnership

People’s Credit Union is excited and proud of the activities and programs the The University of Rhode Island’s Women’s sports teams put together throughout the year.

The Women’s Basketball hosts an education game for local elementary and middle school children at the Ryan Center. The student-athletes are mentors in the community and role models for the students. This event allows the athletes to show the students basketball, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving. We look forward to continuing to connect athletes and students in other community events and programs.

To celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Rhode Island Athletic’s women’s teams (rowing, soccer, softball, track and field, volleyball, and the spirit programs) hold a pre-game multi-sport clinic for the local girls and teens.

The Softball team is getting involved with the local community and helping younger generations to learn softball by joining local youth teams for their practices as they run drills and work on their skills.
