About Our “Propeller”
The propeller is a metaphor for continually moving forward. For us, it’s about being there to help direct you as a member while you navigate your ever-changing course. It signifies our ability and commitment to be ready for you whenever you need us.
To us, it’s more than a brand icon. It represents who we are, how we started, and where we’re going. Displayed boldly in our logo and worn proudly on our apparel, the propeller is a symbol of our longstanding history as a credit union built to help advance each community we serve, and a visual representation of our tagline “You Belong Here.” Our heritage is tied not only to Newport where we started nearly 100 years ago, but to every surrounding community we serve. Look closely and you’ll see a ring of 7 apostrophes, each representing one of our founders – underscoring the time-honored ideals that still guide us today.
But those apostrophes in our logo reflect the one in the People’s name too, and that speaks to something even more important – member ownership. Because we, by definition, are The People’s Credit Union. Your credit union.

Through People’s Credit Union’s membership in the SUM Program, members can use 2,700 ATMs without paying a surcharge. Not every ATM of every SUM Program Member participates in the SUM Program. Be sure to look for the SUM logo for a participating SUM ATM. Download the app today!

To open a new deposit account, you can schedule an appointment through our website to visit your local branch with appropriate, valid identification. Please note that for business accounts we would require additional documentation to proceed with an account opening.
If you are an existing member, you can open an additional single ownership personal (checking or savings) account through your myBanking™ profile within the “Open an Account” tab. This new account must be funded from one of your existing People’s Credit Union accounts.
If you are not currently a member, you can request to open a single ownership personal (checking or savings) account through our website. This process can take a few business days to review and complete, and the account must be funded electronically with your existing deposit account at your current financial institution.
