Send Money Instantly with Pay a Person (P2P)

Need to pay a friend back for dinner or send money to a family member? Our new Pay a Person feature makes it easy and secure. Just use your People’s Credit Union debit card and the recipient’s mobile number or email address. They’ll get a notification and simple instructions to receive the money—in real time.

What Else to Expect?

Currently, our bill pay and P2P functions are located within a single menu, labeled “Bill Pay”. With our new system, these features will be accessible in different menus, labeled as “Pay Bills” and “Pay a Person”, respectively.

For users of our existing bill pay service, your business billers/payees will be converted to the new platform, along with any scheduled or recurring payments. Your bill pay history (up to one year) will also convert. Please note that payees you have inactivated will also be converted to the new system, but payees you have deleted will not be converted.

For users of our existing bill pay service, your person-to-person (P2P) payees will NOT be converted to the new platform. This means that once the new solution launches, any personal payees will need to be re-added to “Pay a Person” so you can continue to send money to these recipients. Although we acknowledge the inconvenience, our new “Pay a Person” offers a far superior solution that allows payees to receive funds in near real-time using eligible debit cards.

Our existing bill pay service will be inaccessible in the days before the launch of the new system in mid-July. More detailed information will be forthcoming as the time approaches, so you will have notice to pre-schedule any payments.

What Actions are Required of Me?

Before the new system:

  • Please take note of any personal or P2P recipients, as they will not be converted to the new platform and must be manually added after launch.
  • As we approach the introduction of the new system in mid-July, ensure that payments are scheduled before the system becomes inaccessible for a few days.
  • Although the payment history will be converted to the new system (up to one year), you can also export your bill pay history from our current platform within the History tab, followed by the download button (downward facing arrow).

Once the system is live:

  • You will be prompted to review and accept the new Terms & Conditions.
  • Add any desired P2P recipients to the “Pay a Person” menu.
  • Review your billers, payment information, and scheduled payments to ensure all appear as expected.
  • Set up any eBills as needed.
  • Start making payments.

Additional FAQs:

Q: I don’t currently use Bill Pay. Will this affect me at all?

A: No, this conversion only impacts our Bill Pay platform within online banking. Any transactions or bills paid outside of online banking, such as through a biller’s website or autopay initiated by the biller, will remain unaffected by this upgrade. However, you will need to accept the new Terms & Conditions to continue using our online banking system.

Q: Why is People’s changing their bill pay?

A: We are upgrading our bill pay solution to provide a more competitive solution that allows our members to manage their financial obligations in a simple, modern hub with robust eBill and payment options. We also wanted to ensure that our members have the option of secure, instant peer-to-peer (P2P) payments to their trusted friends and family.

Q: Will the system look the same?

A: With the upgrade, the system’s appearance will change, with the two primary functions being separated into two distinct menus: “Pay Bills” for traditional bill pay and “Pay a Person” for person-to-person (P2P) payments. Additional screenshots and information will be posted as we near the launch of the new system.

Q: Will I have to set up my payments again?

A: Any pre-scheduled bill pays should convert to the new system, with the exception of any personal/P2P payments.
