Branches to Host Community Food Drive Throughout November
In response to the uncertainty around the current SNAP benefit crisis and its impact on food pantries across the country, People’s Credit Union is donating a total of $50,000 to benefit six local food pantries. In the East Bay, the recipients are the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, Aquidneck Food Pantry, East Bay Food Pantry, and the East Bay Community Action Program. In the West Bay, donations will go to the Jonnycake Center for Hope and the North Kingstown Food Pantry.
“At People’s Credit Union, we believe that when we come together to be a catalyst for positive change, we amplify our impact and strengthen the communities we serve,” said Sean Daly, Head of People’s Credit Union. “Right now, many Rhode Islanders are feeling the impact of the SNAP benefit crisis. We hope our donation and branch food drive will provide immediate support to families facing food insecurity.”
BANKING ON KINDNESS
To give the community an opportunity to support their neighbors facing food insecurity, People’s will hold a Banking on Kindness food drive from November 3rd to November 30th at all branch locations. Marked donation bins can be found in each lobby to collect all non-perishable food, including these most needed items: canned fruit in 100% juice, canned soups, Whole-grain cereal, pasta, crackers and granola bars, white and brown rice, canned chicken and tuna, and pasta sauce.
